Dr. Pant received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from Agra University, Agra, India. His postdoctoral studies were conducted on the mechanisms of electron and ion transport in model membrane systems at the Department of Biophysics at Michigan State University. He joined the Laboratory of Neurobiology in the NIMH as a senior staff fellow in 1974 with Dr. Ichiji Tasaki where he studied the function of the axonal cytoskeleton in the squid giant axon. In 1979 he moved to the NIAAA extending his studies on the neuronal cytoskeleton and the effects of alcohol on its regulation. Dr. Pant moved to the NINDS, Laboratory of Neurochemistry in 1987 where he is presently chief of the section on Cytoskeleton Regulation. His laboratory is studying the mechanisms of topographic regulation of neuronal cytoskeleton proteins by post-translational modification, including the role of kinase cascades in normal brain and during neurodegeneration

The major focus of this laboratory has been to study the mechanisms of topographic regulation of neuronal cytoskeletal proteins regulation by phosphorylation and neurodegeneration.

Si Ching Lim has a special interest in dementia care particularly in patients with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. She is currently In-charge of a 20 bedded dementia ward in a teaching hospital in Singapore and is responsible in developing the ward and training the staff in managing elderly with delirium and dementia with challenging behaviour. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at National University of Singapore and Dukes Graduate Medical School.

Dr. Gjumrakch Aliev, MD, PhD, President “GALLY” International Biomedical Research Institute Inc., San Antonio, Texas, USA. He also hold appointment with the University of Atlanta, Atlanta, Georgia, USA as a Professor of Cardiovascular, Neuropathology, Gerontology, Health Science and Healthcare Administration, and as a Leading Scientist , Institute of Physiologically Active Compounds. He received postdoctoral training with Professor G. Burnstock in the University College of the London. He authored and coauthored more than 500 publications in the fields of neurodegenerative diseases research (Alzheimer disease), as well as cardio- and cerebrovascular disease, cancer, and electron microscopy. He is an outstanding teacher, scholar, and a renowned scientist in the area of cellular molecular physiology, and cardiovascular, and neurodegeneration-mediated pathologies including Alzheimer disease (AD). He is nationally and internationally reputed in his area. Dr. Aliev’s accomplishments in the area of biochemistry and cellular biology have tremendous implications for drug design towards CNS Neurological Disorders, AD, cancer, and cerebrovascular and neurodegeneration related pathologies. He is world-renowned expert in electron microscopy. His work has been published in numerous prestigious journals such as New England journal of Medicine, Nature Clinical Cardiology, J. Neuroscience, Scientific Reports, Circulation Research, Blood, J. Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Atherosclerosis, CNS Neurological Disorders & Drug Targets, international J. Biochemistry and Cell Biology and many others which reflect his leading role in his research areas. He is currently the Editor in Chiefs for “Central Nervous System Agents in Medicinal Chemistry”, “Applied Cell Biology”, “World Journal of Neuroscience”, “Open Journal of Psychiatry”, “Journal of Aging Science”, “Cardiovascular & Hematological Agents in Medicinal Chemistry”, “Immunology, Endocrine and Metabolic Agent in Medicinal Chemistry” as well as which by itself shows the voluminous and outstanding work he has accomplished in the area of cellular and molecular biology as well as aged associated clinical sciences. Dr. Shu Chen received his Ph.D. in Biochemical Pharmacology from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1993. He came to CWRU as a Research Associate and moved on to be an Instructor and Assistant Professor in Case's Institute of Pathology. Presently, Dr. Chen is an Associate Professor of Pathology (2002-) and an Associate Director of the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center (2003-).

Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and prion disease are neurodegenerative diseases characterized by neuronal cell death and accumulation of insoluble protein aggregates. Prion disease is unique in that it consists of a group of heterogeneous brain disorders affecting both humans (such as Creutzfeldt- Jakob disease, CJD) and animals (such as mad cow disease). In humans, prion disease can be sporadic, inherited, or acquired by infection. The hallmark of prion disease is the presence of an abnormal isoform of prion protein (PrP) in the diseased brain. It is thought that the abnormal PrP is derived from the normal PrP that is also expressed in brain and throughout the body.

Dr. Foundas completed her undergraduate studies at Wellesley College, and went on to graduate from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1986. Dr. Foundas completed her Neurology residency training at the University of Florida in Gainesville where she also trained with Dr. Kenneth M. Heilman as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology. Dr. Foundas came to New Orleans in 1992 as Assistant Professor of Neurology at Tulane University School of Medicine. She rapidly rose through the ranks to Professor of Neurology in 2003. Dr. Foundas served as the Director of Neurology Residency Training and Co-Director of the combined programs of Medicine-Neurology and Psychiatry-Neurology Residency Training from 1995 to 2008. Dr. Foundas was the Director of Medical Student Education in Neurology in 2007 to 2008.

Hans von Holst received his Medical Doctor´s degree in 1976 at Karolinska Institutet and completed his specialist training in Neurosurgery 1982 at Karolinska University Hospital. In 1985 he earned his PhD when he also became Associate Professor in Neurosurgery, Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet. Since 1988 he holds a position as Senior Physician in Neurosurgery at Karolinska University Hospital. During 1991-1996 he was appointed as Chairman of the Dept of Neurosurgery and Division Manager of the Neuroclinics at Karolinska University Hospital, respectively. From 1992 to 2006 he was appointed as chairman of the World Health Organization collaborating center for neurotrauma at Karolinska Institutet. Since 2003 he is Professor in Neuroengineering and Head of the Division of Neuroengineering at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He has over 120 original research publications, book chapters and books.

Jerzy Leszek is a full time professor of psychiatry at the Medical University in Wroclaw , Poland ,vice –director of the Psychiatry Department and head of Alzheimer’s Disease Lab. He is author and co-author more than 210 papers (especially from old age psychiatry), some chapters to the books published in reputed Polish and international journals and serving as an editorial board member of several journals .He is Scientific Editor and co-author of first Polish academic handbook on Alzheimer’s disease and seven another academic handbooks from psychogeriatry , member a lot of scientific associations eg founder and president of Lower Silesian Association of Alzheimer’s Families, first of its kind in Poland and Former Member of Board of Directions of International Psychogeriatric Association and President of Polish Psychogeriatric Association.

Michael Entzeroth is currently Chief Scientific Officer/Chief Operating Officer of Cennerv Pharma (S) Pte Ltd in Singapore, a company focused on the development of novel drugs for the treatment of central nervous diseases. From 2007 to 2013, he was the Deputy Director and Vice President Research and Development and Deputy Director of the Experimental Therapeutic Centre, Biopolis, Singapore. Previously, he was Chief Scientific Officer of S*BIO Pte Ltd in Singapore and between 1999 and 2002, as Vice President of CEREP SA in France, he was a member of the Executive Management Committee. From 1985 to 1999, with Boehringer Ingelheim, Germany, he was responsible for a variety of drug discovery programs. Roosevelt—Impact on History.
