Filippos Vallianatos is a Professor of physics from Geophysics-Solid Earth Physics, Technology Educational Institute of CRETE, School of Natural Resources & Environment, Department of Geoenvironment, Laboratory of Geophysics & Seismology & Senior Research Fellow in Geophysics. He received his degree in Physics. With Honours, from University of Athens, Physics Department from 1981-1985. He has done his PhD in Geophysics-Solid Earth Physics (University of Athens, Physics Department). The title of his PhD thesis is: Magnetotelluric investigation of the electrical conductivity in the areas of Thiva and Ioannina (Greece).1985-1989. He has done his Postdoctoral research at Department of Solid Earth Physics, University of Uppsala from 1989-1990. He collaborated with the Dept. of Seismology of the University of Uppsala for the installation of seismological and magnetotelluric stations at various sites in Greece (1986).

Bill X Hu is the Professor of the department of Earth, Ocean & Atmospheric Science at Florida State University. Other awards and fellowships include: Outstanding Student Paper Award (AGU)2009, Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Student Abroad 2008, Benioff-Moore Fellowship (Caltech) 2005-2009, EPS Department Fellowship (JHU) 2003-2004, Outstanding Leadership for student affairs (USTC) 2001 and many more. Mukesh Singh Boori is an Assistant Professor at JECRC University, India since 01/2013. He has done PhD (EIA & Management of Natural Resources) from Federal University – RN (UFRN), Natal –RN, Brazil (08/2011) and Predoc (Earth & Environmental Science) form Katholieke University Leuven, Belgium (08/2008). He has done MSc (Remote sensing & GIS) from MDS University Ajmer (2004) and BSc (Bio-group) from Uni. of Rajasthan, Jaipur, India (2002). In early career he was scientist in JSAC/ISRO (2006-2007) and before that Lecturer at MDS University Ajmer (2005-2007Sessions). He has many international awards/fellowships from USA, Brazil, Italy, Indonesia, Belgium, Czech Republic and India. He visits four Continents for Meetings, Field Trips, Conferences, Trainings and known Six Languages. He is an active Organizing Committee Member in Earth Science Conferences, Successfully Completed a Session as a Co-Chair and also gave Conference Opening Ceremony Speech at Chicago, USA. Turki Mohammed A. Mohamed Bahnassy is the Professor of Soil Science, Alexandria University, Egypt. He has completed his Graduation from the department of soil and water sciences.He was faculty of agriculture, Alexandria University in 1982, He got MS in 1987 in soil survey and land evaluation,and obtained PhD in 1993 about the application of GIS for the analysis of dryland watershed. He became a full professor in 2003, and worked in several projects as a database administrator and GIS specialist. Moreover, He supervised several national, international and Arab Master and Doctoral students. In 1998, He won a Fulbright scholarship to carry out research related to GIS and remote sensing for the sustainable development. Moreover, He carried out a training course in 2003 at the Arabian Gulf University, about handling soil survey data using arc view GIS. Recently, He is the principal investigator for the project "Assessment of Potential Climate Change Impact on Nile Delta and Developing Adaptation Strategies" funded by Alexandria UniversityResearch Enhancement Program (ALEXREP).

Dr.Farid Makroum is the Professor of structural Geology at Mansoura University, Egypt.He has done his PH.D. in Structural geology and mineralization from Mansoura University, Egypt in co-operation with University of Aix Marseille I, France in the year 1996. He has done his MSc. in Rocks and minerals from Mansoura University, Egypt in the year 1991.He has More than 20 articles in different geological topics while structural geology and tectonics represents the main field of interest. He is the - Leader and Co-leader of different research group in the Eastern Desert of Egypt, Gulf of Suez, Red sea, Tunis and Chad.The research collaboration with different institutes as University of Montpellier II, France, University of Graz, Austria and University of Tunis El Manar. He is also the - Consultant of structural geology and courses instructor for different petroleum and mining companies, among them: OGS, GTSC, Gupco, Petrobell, Mica star in Egypt; ETAP in Tunis; and Star petroleum and SP mining in Chad and Sudan.

Dr.Mohamed Ibrahim Dosouky Helal is the Professor of Soil Chemistry at cairo University, Egypt.He published 8 articles in international journals as recorded by Scopus data base. He has done his B.Sc. in Agricultural Science in 1976, M.Sc. in Soil Science in 1982 from from Cairo University. The M. SC. Thesis entitled “ Status of some micronutrients “Boron” in the soils of Egypt.He has done Ph. D. in Soil Science from Cairo University in the year 1988. The Ph. D. thesis entitled “ Status of potassium in the soils of Egypt”. He is the Reviewer in the Journal of Hazardous Materials (ELSEVIER Publisher) and the Journal of Agricultural Science and Technology, Islamic Republic of Iran. He has more than 25 publications in many Journals. He also attended more than 11 Conferences and meetings. He has membership in Egyptian Soil Science Society, Since 1984 and African Soil Science Society, since 1988.

His research activities deal with application of nanotechnology in remediation of heavy metals polluted soil. Various nano-particles; nano scale zero valent iron “nZVI”, nZVI-bentonite, nano alginate and nano carbon; are used as a potential sorbents to eliminate heavy metals from polluted soil. These nanoparticles are prepared in lab either using bottom-up or top-down methods, then characterized using transmission electron microscope (TEM). Also, these nano particles could be potentially used to decontaminate heavy metals polluted water.

Hamdy H. Seisa is a Prof. of Applied Geophysics at El Mansoura University. He received his B Sc in special Geology and M Sc in Geophysics both from El Mansoura University and his Doctorate (Dr rer nat) in shallow refraction seismic interpretation from TU Berlin, Germany. He awarded 3 Post Doctor Fellowships from DAAD (Germany) 1996, OEAD (Austria) 1997and DFG (Germany) 2000. Prof. Seisa jointed several workshops and seminars in several countries and was an invited speaker in many institutes and conferences in Germany, Austria, Italy, Japan, Denmark and KSA. He published several articles on near surface refraction seismic in local and international journals.

Ahmed El Mahmoudi is a professor of Applied Geophysics and currently working at Water Studies Center, King Faisl University, Saudi Arabia. He awarded his Ph. D in "Applied Geophysics" in 1995 from Wales University/UK and Mansoura University/Egypt according to Channel System of Egyptian Universities. He worked at Mansoura university/Egypt (from 1985 to 2000) and UAE University (from 2000 to 2006) before joining King Faisl University, kSA, in 2006. Ahmed El Mahmoudi served as a Principal and Co-Investigator for many funded research projects in the field of Engineering and environmental Geophysics and water resources, in the Editorial board and as a Referee to many Scientific International Journals. He also served as acting Chair for Geology Dept., UAE University & as Vice Director of Water studies Centre, King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia. He did many scientific consultations for many Ministries in UAE, Egypt & Saudi Arabia and for International Organization like FAO and for International Companies like Schlumberger. His research interest is in the field of "Engineering and environmental Geophysics". He published more than fifty papers in the referred Journal and in the proceedings of International conferences. He awarded some incentive prizes for his scientific activities. He has also supervised Eleven PhD and M Sc. students in the field of Applied Geophysics and water resources.

Dr. Hudson Nkotagu is the Associate Professor at University of Dar es Salaam. He is the regional team member of the Lake Tanganyika Authority (LTA) and UNEP Consultative Team on Water Quality and Environmental Monitoring developing strategy for the Lake Tanganyika during the period.2009 – 2012. He is also the Visiting Scholar at Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIGLAS) in 2010. He was the research fellow at US Geological Survey National Centre DURING the period of 1986 – 1987.

His current research interests are to understanding the influence of the climate change variability /change on the quantity and chemical character of groundwater resources in basement aquifers of semi arid and arid regions.

Yoko Ota is the distinguished chair professor of department of Geoscience at National Taiwan University. She has done her BS from Tokyo University of Literature and Science in the year of 1952 and PhD in geography from Tokyo University of Education in 1960. She has many experiences in the field of Geography form many reputed Universities. Abel E. Navarro got his Ph.D. degree in Biomolecular Chemistry at New York University. His expertise includes protein chemistry and structure as part of his graduate studies. Now, as a junior faculty at BMCC, Prof. Navarro is developing new bioremediation alternatives for the elimination of pollutants from wastewaters. He has a publication record of more than 25 papers in specialized and peer-reviewed journals and has participated in several conferences. He has been a Visiting Scientist at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, at Laxenburg, Austria, in addition to Visiting Professor at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, and at the McGill University (Macdonald Campus) in St. Anne de Bellevue. He has also participated in several oversees projects in Indonesia, Zambia and India through the Canadian International Development Agency, and has been an invited participant at several FAO and United Nations Environmental Program activities.

His main interest has been in various issues related to climate change, including adaptation, drought impacts, and greenhouse gas mitigation.

Alexander Trofimov has completed his MD (Doctor of Medicine) in 1998 from Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. During many years he was (until 2010) chief of laboratory of Helio-climatopathology of Scientific Center of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (SB RAMS, Novosibirsk). From 1994 and now he is the Director of International Scientific-Research Institute of Cosmic Anthropoecology (Russia, Novosibirsk). He has 7 patents, published 5 monographs and more than 60 papers in reputed journals such as Arctic Medicine, Journal of Circumpolar Health and many others.

Alberto Carpinteri is the Chair of Solid and Structural Mechanics at the Politecnico di Torino (Italy). He was the President of different scientific Associations and Institutions, among which are the International Congress on Fracture (ICF) and the National Research Institute of Metrology in Italy (INRIM). He is the author of more than 700 publications, of which over 300 are in international peer-reviewed journals. He is presently the Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Meccanica”.

Pezzoli is Assistant Professor with tenure in Meteo-Hydrology and Weather Risk Management at Turin Polytechnic and University of Turin. He holds several degrees: BEng in Civil Engineering in Turin Polytechnic, MEng in Hydraulic Engineering in Turin Polytechnic, MSc in Port Operations in the Italian Naval Academy, PhD in Meteorology and Oceanography in Toulon University (FRANCE). Before to serve as Assistant Professor with tenure in Turin Polytechnic he worked as Voluntary assistant at the Institute of Cosmo-geophysics of the C.N.R., Turin. After that he served as Officer (Lieutenant) in the Italian Navy in the Coast Guard Corps, serving at the Harbor Office of the port of Imperia. In April 1991, following the Haven oil tanker disaster in the Gulf of Liguria, seconded to the Crisis Unit of the Imperia\'s Prefecture (Meteorologist), also acting as Liaison Officer with the French Anti-pollution force. He was Visiting Professor in “Meteorology” for MEng course in “Marine Engineering” at Institut des Sciences de l’Ingenieur de Toulon et du Var - University of Toulon and Var (France) and Visiting Professor in “Meteorology and Oceanography” for PhD course in “Marine Engineering” at Escola Politecnica – Universidade de Sao Paolo (Brazil). Actually he is Scientific Adviser of a very innovative Research Unit in Meteorology applied to the Sport founded in the Department of Sport Psychology - Research Centre Sport Science - University of Turin. He is Author of more than 70 paper in International Journal and Conference. He also serves as reviewer in many journals across the world. He is an Associate Professor in Ecosystem Management at UNE where he teachs Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing subjects at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The main subjects he is involved in are Geomatics, Introduction to GIS and Spatial Analysis & Modelling.

Joseph Harari is Physicist (B.Sc.) by the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo (1973), Master in Physical Oceanography by the Oceanographic Institute of USP (1977), Ph.D. in Meteorology by the Astronomical and Geophysical Institute of USP (1984) and Associate Professor in Physical Oceanography at the Oceanographic Institute of USP (1991). He acts as teacher of the Oceanographic Institute of USP since 1981, supplying disciplines on Foundations of Physical Oceanography, Hydrodynamic Numeric Modeling and Altimetry of Satellite. He is adviser teacher of masters’ degree, specialist in the areas of hydrodynamic numeric modeling, coastal processes, tides and satellite altimetry. He published several scientific works, with emphasis in studies of coastal areas of Brazil and of São Paulo State. He is partner - founder of the Brazilian Nucleus of Environmental Researches and Health and it exercises the presidency of the Nucleus of Santos now (NPABS). He was Vice Chair of CBPA\'2001 and CBPA\'2002 (Brazilian Congress of Environmental Researches), of CBPAS\'2003, CBPAS\'2004, CBPAS’2005 (Brazilian Congress of Environmental Researches and Health), EHWC’2006 (Environmental and Health World Congress), SHEWC’2007 (Safety. Herdies got his Ph.D. from University of São Paulo, Brazil, in Atmospheric Science and his postdoctoral studies from NCEP and NASA. He is author of more than 150 publications in International Journals and Conference. He is the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator of several national and international projects over La Plata Basin and Amazon Basin. Visiting research at NASA, NCEP and University of Maryland. He is presently the coordinator of the graduate course (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) in Meteorology at National Institute for Space Research.

Lei Yan has completed his Ph.D. from Tsinghua University and postdoctoral studies from Peking University School of Earth and Space Science. He is the Director of Beijing Key Lab of Spatial Information Integration & Its Applications. In the past 10 years, more than 240 articles are published, about 30 of them are indexed by SCI and 80 are indexed by EI. He is one of the \"Hundred Talents\" of Changchun Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics. His research on PRS was awarded as the first Award for Natural Science of Beijing in 2012.

Quaternary stratigraphy of continental margins in Marine geological record of human activity in coastal and marine environments

Sumit Mukhopadhyay is a member of the scientific staff in the Earth Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). Sumit received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Southern California in 1995. After a stint of about three years at Purdue University as Research Associate, he joined LBNL in 1998 as a scientist. In 2004, Sumit was made a career member of the scientific staff. Sumit has over 60 scientific publications, about 25 of which are in peer-reviewed journals, in addition to numerous laboratory and research reports. Sumit’s area of expertise is numerical model development and applications for coupled subsurface flow and transport processes. He has worked in coupled fluid and heat transport processes associated with radioactive waste disposal in the unsaturated zone, numerical modeling study of reductive bioimmobilzation of Cr(VI) in groundwater, reactive transport modeling of plume mobility using a reactive facies approach, reactive transport of natural isotopic tracers in geothermal reservoirs, and subsurface sequestration of supercritical carbon dioxide. Sumit has developed methodologies for estimating the transport properties of unsaturated fractured rock from flowing fluid temperature logging (FFTL) using multiphase inverse modeling. Sumit’s research interest also includes investigation of feedback effects of reactive transport on flow in the unsaturated zone and analysis of multiphase transport processes in air-gap membrane distillation for purification of seawater.

Uma Seeboonruang has completed her Ph.D from University of California – Davis and postdoctoral studies also from the university and Kyushu – Tokai University majoring in groundwater flow and contaminant transport. She has conducted numerous research projects and published a number of papers regarding to soil – groundwater acidity and salinity problems and recently has started the study the impact of climate change on groundwater and soil salinity in Thailand.

Martin Aubé got his Phd degree in remote sensing from Université de Sherbrooke, Canada and a MSc degree in astrophysics from Université Laval, Canada. M. Aubé is professor at Cégep de Sherbrooke physics department, where he is researcher/coordinator of GRAPHYCS research group. He is associate professor of the applied geomatics department at Université de Sherbrooke. Amongs many other affiliations, he is associate researcher at Centre d\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'applications et de recherche en télédétection (CARTEL), adjoint researcher at the Centre de recherche en astrophysique du Québec (CRAQ), member of the Global Environmental and Climate Change Center (GEC3).

Siwatt Pongpiachan received an academic scholarship from Thai government to study abroad for 15 years. He graduated from Demonstration High School of Tokyo Gakugei University, Tokyo, Japan in 1994. He took his first degree in Marine Chemistry at Division of Marine Chemistry, School of Oceanography, Hokkaido University, Japan, followed by a M.Sc. in Environmental Chemistry at Division of Marine and Atmospheric Geochemistry, Graduate School of Earth & Environmental Sciences, Hokkaido University, Japan in 2001. He received financial supports from Thai government, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), and the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture, Japan, for conducting his researches as a part of B.Sc. and M.Sc.degree.In 2006, he finally obtained his Ph.D. in Geography, Earth & Environmental Sciences, School of Geography, Earth & Environmental Sciences Division of Environmental Health and Risk Management, The University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. He then spent five years as a lecturer at the Faculty of Environmental Management, Prince of Songkla University, Thailand. His work there lied within the field of climate change and extend from fundamental studies of marine chemistry on the one hand through to carcinogenicity of gaseous and airborne fine particulate persistent organic pollutants (POPs), particularly polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), alkanes, hopanes and cholestanes at the other extreme. In 2006, he was granted from UNESCO for conducting collaboration research with Hong Kong Polytechnic University under the title of “Source Apportionment of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and the effects of soot particle on gas-particle partitioning of PAHs”. In 2007, he was sponsored by National Research Council of Thailand to study characteristic of atmospheric profile and its effects on variation of air pollution in Thailand (CAPE). In the same year, he was also financially supported by DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) on Thai-German Cooperative Research and Capacity Building: Ocean Geoscience, Marine Ecology and Engineering for Natural Hazard Management and Sustainable Use of Marine Resources: Tsunami Deposits in Near-Shore and Coastal Waters of Thailand (TUNWUT). In 2010, he was granted from Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xi’an, China to conduct two researches under the titles of “Long Term Observatory of PM2.5 in Bangkok Atmosphere (LOPBA)” and “Intensive Monitoring Campaign of PM2.5 at Northern Region of Thailand at Multiple Sampling Sites during Forest Fire Episode (IMPRESS)”. In 2011, he was selected by United Nation Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Pollution Control Department (PCD) as a national project manager to responsible for demonstration of Best Available Technique (BAT) and Best Environmental Practice (BEP) in fossil fuel-fired utility and industrial boilers in response to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in Thailand. He has published extensively as a columnist of “Bangkokbiznews” in topics of innovations. He had contributed expansively in peer reviewed of international journal of analytical and environmental sciences. He is an active international scientific advisory committee of Wessex Institute of Technology (WIT), United Kingom, responsible for air pollution session. Yu-Pin Lin, is a professor in the department of Bioenvironmental Systems Engineering at National Taiwan University in Taiwan.He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in USA. Prof. Lin has interested in application and development of Eco-hydrological and hydrogeological modeling, water quality modeling, soil heavy metal pollution, geostatistical spatiotemporal methods, multi-scale analysis, quantitative methods in landscape ecology, watershed land use modeling, and optimal monitoring sampling design. He is also an associate editor of Environmental Monitoring and Assessment journal published by Springer, and the chief managingeditor of Paddy and Water Environment journal published by Springer. Moreover, Dr. Lin has been as reviewers for more than 30 international journals. Recently, Prof. Lin has been awarded a national outstanding research award by National Science Council of Taiwan government.
