Biography
Raimund Erbel has completed his MD at the age of 25 years from Düsseldorf University and postdoctoral studies from Düsseldorf universities as well. He spent two years at the Military Hospital in Koblenz, followed by a research time in Aachen with Prof Effert. He became consultant for Internal Medicine was provided in 1981, Cardiology in 1982. He received the degree as assistant professor in 1983 and associate professor in 1989 at the Gutenberg university, Mainz. As director of the department of cardiology and full professor of medicine/cardiology he worked from 1993 to 2015 at the university clinic Essen; founded the West-German Heart Center in 2003. He is actively involved in the Heinz Nixdorf Recall study in the Institute of Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology of the university Essen. Further engagement includes the outpatient ambulance at the Alfried Krupp Hospital Essen, Germany. He has published more than 1300 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of national and international journals.
