Biography
Naresh Ranjith completed his honors in microbiology and physiology at the University of Durban Westville and obtained his BSc. degree in 1976. He obtained his MBChB degree at the University of Natal Medical School in 1981. Following this he completed his Doctorate in medicine [ MD], the title of which was Genetic Markers in young Indian patients with Myocardial infarction, at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal in 2005. In 2006, he was awarded the FESC by the European Society of Cardiology. In 2010 he became Professor of Cardiology at the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine. Currently he is Head of Cardiology at the R K Khan Hospital in Durban. He is a member of various professional bodies, some of which include the South African Heart Association, European Society of Cardiology, Working Group on Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Physiology, and the American Heart Failure Society. His research interests include the Genetics of Cardiac Disease, Cardiac Biomarkers, Heart failure and Acute Coronary Syndromes. He has published extensively in peer reviewed journals on these areas of research
