Track 01: Arthritis- Types & Treatment

Arthritis is joint disorder that includes inflammation and pain in joints. There are many types of arthritis. The common arthritis is osteoarthritis a result of trauma to the joint, infection of the joint, or age. Others are Rheumatoid arthritis, Septic arthritis which is caused due to joint infection & Juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, affecting millions of people worldwide. It occurs when the protective cartilage on the ends of your bones wears down over time. Although osteoarthritis can damage any joint in your body, the disorder most commonly affects joints in your hands, knees, hips and spine. Osteoarthritis often gradually worsens, and no cure exists. But staying active, maintaining a healthy weight and other treatments may slow progression of the disease and help improve pain and joint function. Sometimes called degenerative joint disease or “wear and tear” arthritis, osteoarthritis is the most common chronic condition of the joints and this condition in pediatric orthopedics and orthopedic spine can be treated by pediatric surgeons. It occurs when the cartilage or cushion between joints breaks down leading to pain, stiffness and swelling pain. Osteoarthritis is caused by aging joints, injury, and obesity. Osteoarthritis symptoms include joint pain and stiffness. Treatment depends on the affected joint, including the hand, wrist, neck, back, knee, and hip, and involves medication and exercise. Deficiency in knee joints can be treated by the knee specialists by performing knee surgery.

Track 02: Arthropathies & Myopathies

Arthropathy is a collective term for any disease of the joints. A myriad of arthropathic disorders can afflict the joints, including sacroiliitis which causes inflammation in the sacroiliac joint, Charcot's joints which leads to the degeneration of a joint due to nerve damage, and arthrogryposis which results in joint contractures. The enteropathic arthropathies are a group of rheumatologic conditions that share a link to gastrointestinal pathology. The inflammatory myopathies are a group of diseases that involve chronic muscle inflammation, accompanied by muscle weakness.  Another word for chronic inflammation of muscle tissue is myositis. Muscle inflammation may be caused by an allergic reaction, exposure to a toxic substance or medicine, another disease such as cancer or rheumatic conditions, or a virus or other infectious agent, Orthopedic nursing should be done by orthopedic nurse and orthopedic nurse practioners with care in such conditions. The chronic inflammatory myopathies are idiopathic, meaning they have no known cause.  They are thought to be autoimmune disorders, in which the body’s white blood cells attack blood vessels, normal muscle fibers, and connective tissue in organs, bones, and joints. Under this track various topics will be discussed which will explore various aspects of these diseases such as Diagnosis of myopathies, Spondylarthropathy, Anti-synthetase syndrome, Reactive arthropathy, Enteropathic arthropathy, Diabetic arthropathy, Crystal arthropathy.

Track 03: Arthroscopy & Arthroplasty

Arthroscopy (also called arthroscopic surgery) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure on a joint in which an examination and sometimes treatment of damage is performed using an arthroscope, an endoscope that is inserted into the joint through a small incision. Arthroscopic procedures can be performed to evaluate or treat many orthopedic conditions including torn cartilage, torn surface (articular) cartilage, ACL reconstruction, and trimming damaged cartilage.

Arthroplasty is an orthopedic surgical procedure where the articular surface of a musculoskeletal joint is replaced, remodeled, or realigned by osteotomy or some other procedure. It is an elective procedure that is done to relieve pain and restore function to the joint after damage by arthritis or some other type of trauma.

Track 04: Bone Disorders

Bone density is actually higher rather than lower in osteoarthritis. Low bone density is the telltale sign of osteoporosis, a skeletal disorder characterized by weakened bones due to excessive loss of bone mass. Osteoarthritis, on the other hand, is characterized by increased bone density and osteophytes in conjunction with articular cartilage degeneration. Osteoporosis and osteoarthritis are two different diseases with opposite bone density problems Osteoarthritis, also known as wear and tear arthritis, is a progressive disease of the joints. With osteoarthritis, the articular cartilage that covers the ends of bones in the joints gradually wear away the disorder most commonly affects joints in hands, knees, hips and spine. Osteoarthritis often gradually worsens, and no cure exists. Where there was once smooth articular cartilage that made the bones move easily against each other when the joint bent and straightened, there is now a frayed, rough surface. Osteoarthritis usually develops after many years of use. It affects people who are middle-aged or older. But staying active, maintaining a healthy weight and other treatments may slow progression of the disease and help improve pain and joint function. There has been much progress in arthritis research. New information regarding the development structure and degradation of joint cartilage is becoming available. Scientists are studying the complex ways joints move and fit together and how joints respond to many different stresses and strains. They also are continuing to improve ways to avoid further damage to the bones and tissue. Researchers have also identified a gene that may be linked to the faulty development of cartilage, thus leading to the development of osteoarthritis or other conditions

Track 05: Connective Tissue Disorders

Connective tissue is the material inside your body that supports many of its parts. It is the "cellular glue" that gives your tissues their shape and helps keep them strong. It also helps some of your tissues do their work. Connective tissue disease refers to a group of disorders involving the protein-rich tissue that supports organs and other parts of the body. Examples of connective tissue are fat, bone, and cartilage. These disorders often involve the joints, muscles, and skin, but they can also involve other organs and organ systems, including the eyes, heart, lungs, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, and blood vessels.

Track 06: Diagnostic & Imaging Techniques

An ultrasound scan is a medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to capture live images from the inside of your body. The technology is similar to that used by sonar and radar, which help the military detect planes and ships. An ultrasound allows your doctor to see problems with organs, vessels, and tissues—without needing to make an incision. Medical imaging is the technique and process of creating visual representations of the interior of a body for clinical analysis and medical intervention. Medical imaging seeks to reveal internal structures hidden by the skin and bones, as well as to diagnose and treat disease. Medical imaging also establishes a database of normal anatomy and physiology to make it possible to identify abnormalities. Although imaging of removed organs and tissues can be performed for medical reasons, such procedures are usually considered part of pathology instead of medical imaging. In knee surgery also medical imaging plays an important role. The major orthopedic manufacturers of the global market concentrate much on medical imaging devices than other orthopedic implants and supplies. The devices used in the pediatric orthopedicsorthopedic spine surgery, and veterinary orthopedics are in high demand in the global market.

Track 07: Fractures & its types

A fracture is the medical term for a broken bone. Fractures are common; the average person has two during a lifetime. They occur when the physical force exerted on the bone is stronger than the bone itself. Your risk of fracture depends, in part, on your age. Broken bones are very common in childhood, although children's fractures are generally less complicated than fractures in adults. As you age, your bones become more brittle and you are more likely to suffer fractures from falls that would not occur when you were young. There are many types of fractures, but the main categories are displaced, non-displaced, open, and closed. Displaced and non-displaced fractures refer to the way the bone breaks.

Track 08: Orthopedic Devices

Orthopedic medical devices have been extremely successful in restoring mobility, reducing pain, and improving the quality of life for millions of individuals each year. Joint replacement products include devices for hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and finger arthroplasty procedures. Fracture management products include a wide variety of devices including wires, pins, screws, plates, spinal fixation devices, and artificial ligaments. Other orthopedic medical devices include other reconstructive implants, arthroscopy products, electrical stimulation products, and casting products. Despite the large number of existing orthopedic medical devices and applications, there are only a few metals, polymers, and ceramics.

Track 09: Orthopedic Oncology

Orthopedic oncology specializes in the treatment of men and women with bone cancer, sarcoma or cancer that has spread to the bone from other areas of the body. The treatment of metastatic bone cancer is evolving rapidly, advances in treatment have made it possible to treat metastatic disease more like a chronic condition and less like a terminal illness. To determine if a bone or soft tissue tumor is present,  physicians often collaborate with the radiologists to administer and interpret imaging tests such as PET scans, CT scans, and MRIs. May also perform a fine needle biopsy, where a small sample of bone or tissue is removed and analyzed to determine if cancer is present. In addition, we may use a test called flow cytometry, which allows orthopedicians to examine the DNA in cells and determine if cancer is present.

Track 10: Orthopedic Surgery

Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics  is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. Orthopedic trauma care covers the spectrum of simple isolated fractures to severe life threatening accidents with multiple broken bones. While many fractures can be treated very well by general orthopedic surgeons, some can benefit from fracture specialists. More significant injuries with multiple broken bones, compound fractures and fractures near a joint, and fractures of the pelvis are more difficult to treat, and benefit the most from specialized care. Additionally, problems with healing including nonunions, infections (osteomyelitis) and healing with poor alignment (malunion) are often treated by fracture specialists.

In this track discussions will be carried out regarding the orthopedic surgeries, orthopedic surgeons and trauma in orthopedic injuries, it involves, Periprosthetic Fractures, Traumatic Brachial Plexus Injuries, Radial Mononeuropathy, Sternoclavicular Joint Injury, Peripheral Nerve Injuries, Hand surgery, Knee surgery and Hip Surgery, Orthopedic specialists and knee specialists & orthopedic specialists, Spine SurgerySpine orthopedic Surgeon related to orthopedic spine, Bone Trauma, Interphalangeal Dislocation, Total joint construction, Orthopedic Surgeon UK, Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and knee surgery. It is essential to conduct orthopedic surgery conferences in order to convey the recent advances in orthopaedic surgery.

Across nearly the entire U.S. orthopedic trauma device market, orthopedic implants, devices related to orthopedic spine, titanium materials are gaining popularity among orthopedic surgeons, knee specialists, orthopedic specialists, and pediatric surgeons as a superior product in comparison to their stainless steel counterparts.  One exception is the conventional hip screw market where stainless steel comprises over 75% of the market.

Track 13: Reconstruction & Replacements

Hip replacement surgery is a process that the removes the femur and shapes the hip socket, then replaces them with a hip implant cup, ball and stem. Orthopedic surgeons can perform replacement using traditional or minimally invasive procedures. If there are severe complications, hip revision surgeries may be necessary and involve removing the failed hip implant, replacing it with another device and bone grafting if there is damage from the previous implant. The goal of hip replacement surgery is to increase someone’s mobility, decrease pain and improve quality of life by replacing damaged and diseased bone and tissue with an artificial implant.

Reconstruction means performing a surgery to fix problems with structure or function of a body part, or to correct an abnormality or defect. Hip reconstructive surgery is a surgical procedure done to restore your mobility and alleviate hip pain.

Hip, the largest joint in the body, is a ball and socket joint composed of head of the femur (thigh bone) and the acetabulum, which is a concave indentation in the pelvic bone. Ligaments and cartilage surrounding the hip joint provide mobility and stability. Over the course of life or due to any trauma and other medical conditions, the hip cartilage may experience some wear and tear, which may develop to a condition called arthritis, which often causes pain. Arthritis gradually worsens with time, and requires proper treatment.

Track 14: Sports Medicine

Sports medicine is the medical subspecialty that is generally concerned with one overarching mission: the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness and injury related to participation in any sports and athlete exercise. To accomplish a mission as comprehensive as this, much depends on having a multidisciplinary, complementary approach to health care delivery that uses both operative procedures and nonsurgical techniques. Sports medicine provides a means of enhancing athletic performance while preventing athletic injury. All sports have a risk of injury. In general, the more contact in a sport, the greater the risk of a traumatic injury. Track 15: Spine

Spinal stenosis occurs when the spinal cord in the neck (cervical spine) or the spinal nerve roots in the lower back (lumbar spine) are compressed. Symptoms of lumbar stenosis often include leg pain (sciatica) and leg tingling, weakness, or numbness. Arm pain is a typical symptom of cervical spinal stenosis. For cervical spinal stenosis with myelopathy, difficulty with coordination often occurs. Stenosis treatment may include non-surgical options (exercise, anti-inflammatory medication, epidural injections, and activity modification) or back surgery.

Track 16: Recent advancements

In the past, a bone graft was performed by removing bone from a patient’s pelvis. This bone would be broken it into small pieces and placed in the surgical site, where the new bone was to grow. There were two significant problems with this method: first, people often experienced chronic pain at the bone donor site and, second, it was very difficult for the spine to make bone and between 30% and 40% of these bone fusions were not healing, which meant that a patient might need another surgery.

The biological process of bone healing and have helped to unlock the genetic key to the master bone growth factor. This bone growth factor is a protein that naturally occurs in the body. It is the same protein that helps you heal a broken bone and that made your bones form when you were an embryo.
