Nutritional science  is the examination of how an organism is nourished, and combines the study of how nourishment affects personal health, population health, and planetary health.

1. Nutritional Disorders and Therapy

Nutrition disorders can be provoked by an insufficient intake of food or of certain nutrients, by an inability of the body to consume and use nutrients, or by overconsumption of foods. Nutrition disorders can be particularly serious in children, since they inhibit with growth and development, and may predispose to many health problems, such as infection and chronic disease. Nutritional disease, any of the nutrient-related diseases and conditions that cause illness in humans. They may include deficiencies or excesses in the diet, obesity and eating disorders, and chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, cancer, and diabetes mellitus. Nutritional diseases also include developmental abnormalities that can be prevented by diet, hereditary metabolic disorders that respond to dietary treatment, the interaction of foods and nutrients with drugs, food allergies and intolerances, and potential hazards in the food supply. s per our research, it is estimated that there were around 925 million undernourished people in the world. Another billion people are estimated to have a lack of vitamins and minerals. In 2013 protein-energy malnutrition was estimated to have resulted in 469,000 deaths down from 510,000 deaths in 1990.

2. Nutritional Epidemiology

Nutritional epidemiology is the study of human health in relation to nutrition. What started as a small sub discipline of epidemiology some decades ago has grown into a branch with major public health importance. Now that nutritional deficiencies have been dramatically reduced in most developed countries, the purpose of nutritional recommendations has been the prevention of diseases. Diet and physical activity are difficult to measure accurately, which may partly explain why nutrition has received less attention than other risk factors for disease in epidemiology. 3. Carbohydrate and Protein Nutrition:

Carbohydrate-rich foods are the primary source of energy for all body functions. Many carbohydrate-rich foods are loaded with other nutrients. Fruits and vegetables are not only great carbohydrate sources, they are also excellent suppliers of vitamins A and C and many other vitamins and minerals. Most dairy products are also great sources of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are energy-providing nutrients. The body receives 4 calories per 1 gram of carbohydrates consumed.  Foods with a high Glycemic Index have been linked to elevated risks of heart disease and diabetes.

Protein is a source of energy but its main role in the body is growth and repair. It helps in the formation of muscles, hair, nails, skin and organs, such as the heart, kidneys and liver. We all contain a significant amount of protein

6. Pediatric Nutrition

Pediatric nutrition is the maintenance of a proper well-balanced diet consisting of the essential nutrients and the adequate caloric intake necessary to promote growth and sustain the physiologic requirements at the various stages of a child's development. Pediatric nutritional needs vary considerably with age, level of activity, and environmental conditions and they are directly related to the rate of growth. Breast Feeding has important ingredients that are not found in any infant formula, to build the baby’s immune system. Pediatric nutrition must consist of essential Vitamins and Minerals which help for the growth and development. Proteins are the basic units required mainly for the construction of the body muscles and in all the metabolic activities of the body. To increase the calcium levels intake of dairy products are needed.

7. Nutrition for the Aged and Elderly

Older persons are particularly vulnerable to malnutrition. Moreover, attempts to provide them with adequate nutrition encounter many practical problems. Many of the diseases suffered by older persons are the result of dietary factors, some of which have been operating since infancy. These factors are then compounded by changes that naturally occur with the ageing process. However as we get older our lifestyles and appetite can change and this can affect the types and amounts of foods we eat. A decreasing appetite or reduced ability to buy and prepare healthy foods can mean that many older people don’t get enough essential vitamins, mineral and fiber, and this can contribute to general un wellness or exacerbate some chronic illness.

9. Nutrition and Cancer

Nutrition therapy is used to help cancer patients get the nutrients they need to keep up their body weight and strength, keep body tissue healthy, and fight infection. Eating habits that are good for cancer patients can be very different from the usual healthy eating guidelines.Healthy eating habits and good nutrition can help patients deal with the effects of cancer and its treatment. Some cancer treatments work better when the patient is well nourished and gets enough calories and protein in the diet.
